hyundai verna
Car Review
Hyundai Verna is how fluidic Korean auto-engineering gets to be
When Hyundai bought in the Verna sedan, it was perhaps clear that it came as a replacement for the Accent sedan. This car was the entry point for buyers of Hyundai, who were looking at buying at the sedan segment. After it's graduation to the Verna in 2010, the car has indeed seen some cosmetic updates, and it's own share of fans remaining loyal to it. More 'Fluidic' as Hyundai now calls in range of sedans, the design has modernized revamped and made itself more in tune with the demand of aerodynamic vehicles which are flooding the market today.
A total of 13 different models are spread over a price band of Rs 7.28 lakhs to Rs 11.48 lakhs, along with 6 colors to choose a Verna out of. Engine fuel options are limited to the diesel and petrol.
The exterior
Of late, Hyundai has managed to ensure that people take a bit of time to recognize their sedans as they increasingly look similar to each other. For some, it might be a bit too close for discomfort. However, there is no denying that the modern 'sporty' aerodynamic feel is something very strongly a part of this DNA; the prominent fog lamps curving into those of the body, the characteristic lines along the side of the body, then progressive shaping curve of the frontier and rear end of the car, combined with add-ons like electric body colored electronic rear view mirror, bumper reflectors, chrome side handles and front grille complete a very futuristic picture.
The interior
The Hyundai Verna customer is surely the target group which demands more for the buck he/she pays. There seems to be a lot of add-ons and extensive work on the designing of the interior space. From the suave beige upholstery to the polished wood finished paneling on the central control sides and the door handles, with the coupling of the glossy black premium quality plastic, goes to show that the target consumer is a demanding one, and they will indeed get what they demand.
Some handy features which came to notice are the air cooled glove box compartment, sliding front armrest, sunglass/eyewear holder, blue illuminated supervision cluster, driver information system regarding engine efficiency, digital counter of setting air conditioning temperature, remote control for audio system on the steering wheel, bluetooth hands-free music dock, and the 2-din audio system just to name a few.
The engine
There are 4 configurations of engine to choose from: 1.4-liter (1,396cc displacement) VTVT Petrol, 1.6-liter (1,591cc displacement) VTVT Petrol, 1.4-liter CRDi (1,396cc displacement), and the 1.6 CRDi (1,582cc displacement) VGT diesel. While the petrol engine options would yield a mileage of between 17.01 to 17.43 kmpl, the diesel engines give out comparatively more between 21.9 kmpl and 23.5 kmpl. In terms of transmission, there are 3 main options: 4-speed automatic, 5-speed manual, and the 6-speed manual, which all vary with the 13 different model options.
